Rinceaux: From Illuminated Motif to Painted Collection - DESCRIPTION
A 6-Week Online Gouache Series with Risa Gettler
Participants receive a weekly selection of authentic images to explore techniques used in medieval manuscript art including white vine, shading and painting with gouache.
Participants select one (or more, if desired) to create a pattern to produce a small painting.
Each manuscript image is used as a basis for producing a final painting.
Tracing, drawing and altering the letters onto graph paper (or electronic graph).
Producing a line art Pattern to paint from. This is done by placing tracing paper on top of the graph drawing and using a pigment-based fine liner (or digital drawing).
The line art drawing is printed onto good paper, like Arches Text Wove or watercolor paper to paint from.

Submit your weekly work by Thursday at 12:00 noon PT (US & Canada) for live sharing and instructor review.
Written critiques are also provided by email.
Live sessions are dynamic and inspiring as participants share their work and grow together.
