A 6-Week Online Gouache Series with Risa Gettler

Participants receive a weekly selection of authentic images to explore techniques used in medieval manuscript art including white vine, shading and painting with gouache.

Participants select one (or more, if desired) to create a pattern to produce a small painting.

  • Each manuscript image is used as a basis for producing a final painting.

  • Tracing, drawing and altering the letters onto graph paper (or electronic graph).

  • Producing a line art Pattern to paint from. This is done by placing tracing paper on top of the graph drawing and using a pigment-based fine liner (or digital drawing).

  • The line art drawing is printed onto good paper, like Arches Text Wove or watercolor paper to paint from.

Medieval artist Risa Gettler guides you with:

* Clear reproduction instruction

* Weekly live demonstrations

* Individualized critique

* Practical techniques to expand your painting repertoire

Bonus: Monday Open Studio sessions included
