A self-paced, year-long journey exploring 9th - 12th c. Spanish medieval knots, one pattern at a time. Discover the timeless art of medieval knot work in this creative journey through history, geometry, and design.

Each month, subscribers receive an email reminder and:

  • Original manuscript medieval knot image.

  • Ai enhanced version of the manuscript image.

  • Line art pattern (use to paint from - or create your own)

  • Manuscript reference and historical context.

  • A 90-minute Live Open Studio (Salon) with Risa Gettler (3rd Monday of each month) - not recorded session, unless there is something that would benefit other students.

Learn how to transfer each intricate design onto quality paper and bring it to life with gouache or watercolor, guided by step-by-step instructions in the classroom portal. Access to the portal - the handouts and images does not expire, so you can participate on your own schedule.

To deepen your experience, you may join us our optional monthly Open Studio Session with renowned manuscript artist Risa Gettler, where participants share their progress, ask questions, and explore color mixing, technique, and community together.

Knot Forgotten celebrates the beauty of interlaced design — art and history, bound in every stroke.

By the end of the year, you will have studied, drawn and painted a collection of 12 knots to share, frame, print as cards or tip into a hand-made book!
