Tom Perkins, Instructor
This is a Roman Holiday Calligraphy & Lettering Arts Series.
5 sessions of study with Tom Perkins (15 hours)
Edward Johnston defined the three qualities of good lettering as Simplicity, Distinctiveness and Proportion. This class aims to show a simple geometric method which enables the recreation of these archetypal forms with great accuracy. After the Trajan analysis, Tom's ’Dynamic Capitals’ evolved from his own version of freehanded, drawn letters in the 1980’s and has used them in both more formal and freely composed inscriptions.
