This Live online and recorded 6-week series is based on a single Spanish manuscript from the late 1400s that includes 18 illuminated initials with the gold and white detailing and 19 embellishments with full illuminated borders of interlocking circular medallions/roundels filled with stylized flowers, foliage, and geometric motifs.
A line art pattern will be supplied prior to the first session.
Each week, participants choose paint from a variety of letters embellishments (and borders) with gilding, diapering and imaginative florals.
Gilding will be discussed, however, gold metallic paint will be used for gold areas, however participants are welcome to gild their artwork if desired.
Students are expected to submit work in progress on a weekly basis.
Instructor provides individualized critiques and attention, instruction for pattern and reproduction, painting techniques with weekly demonstrations.
