January 9 - February 13, 2026
10:00am - 12:00pm Pacific Time US & Canada

6-Class recorded sessions
6 Open Studio Sessions

Participants receive a weekly selection of authentic images to explore a myriad of techniques used in medieval manuscript art including zodiac signs, anthropomorphic letters, floral letters, specific techniques including diapering, tooling, and of course, shading and painting with gouache.

Participants select one (or more, if desired) to create a line art Pattern and produce a small painting.

Participants are expected to upload their weekly work by 12:00 noon on Thursday prior to session for sharing and review with the instructor.

The instructor also sends a written critique via email on your submission.

We all learn from each other and the Live sessions offer growth and inspiration to those who are able to submit their homework and partake in the session.

The prior to the first session only, participants receive a medieval image AND a line art Pattern to paint for the 1st session critique.

Specific techniques including diapering, tooling, shading and painting with gouache are addressed in both the Live and optional Open Studio sessions.

Open Studio is a casual meeting and not recorded and held 6:00 - 7:30pm Pacific Time on Monday evenings.

For the Medieval Potpourri series, participants receive the pre-session work upon enrollment with instructions on how to transfer the Pattern to good paper.
