Participants receive 6 weekly selections of Grotesques from various medieval manuscripts. Choose one or several Grotesques each week to replicate and/or alter to meet your whimsy. Learn how to accurately reproduce any image, share your work, give and receive class feedback and critiques

Step into the world of medieval manuscript art with Risa Gettler in this 6-week online painting series focused on Rinceaux—the flowing vine and leaf ornament found in 12th-century manuscripts. Risa guides you through building motifs, layering color, and composing finished pieces. Each session builds toward a cohesive painted collection that reflects both the richness of tradition and your own creative voice.

AUG 28 - OCT 2, 2026 10:00am - 12:00pm Pacific Time US & Canada This Live 6-week series showcases a range of the middle ages approaches to mise-en-page (page layout and composition) across different functional contexts. Decorated initials, borders and marginal decoration and painting techniques using gouache are the main areas of focus. Weekly artwork for review and sharing is encouraged.

Tool2Type is a Live, online, six-session course to create a font from from your own hand lettering. Rob Leuschke teaches how to navigate the font software Glyphs app, sharing the tips and tricks he has learned along the way in his Font-Building career. Students must have a Macintosh computer to use the Glyphs application to benefit from this course.

Instructor, Risa Gettler ZOOMORPHICS - Are a medieval design fad of drawing animals (ZOO) that "morph" into letters used as stand alone paintings & unique capitals. Learn to accurately reproduce, create patterns, and paint a Zoomorphics alphabet from a variety of medieval alphabets. All ability levels welcome.
